Fashion Fitness Tidbit

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

It’s summer time and we know that our bodies need to look a certain way. We want to get in that tiny swim suit, so we are trying every diet that comes out. It’s OK… no need to stress because we all are beautiful in our own little way. A few sit ups before breakfast, some cardio workout, 3 small meals during the day (and 3 healthy snacks) will help! Just add a few more situps right before bed, it will work out for the best.

Sex and the City Style

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Carrie oversized corsageWhen we reflect on Carrie’s character from the hit HBO show now turned movie Sexy and the City, we have seen her pull off some daring fashionable ensembles. We question… How is she able to pull off these fashion feats???

The answer: Style and Confidence!

Her self esteem and self confidence scream through the roof in her fashion collections. So how can we take on that Carrie-flair and mix it into out waredrobes?

Here are some tip:

  • Mix and Match it up! Dont be afraid to mix-and-match traditional with non-traditional.
  • Its all about the Shoes! Womens shoes are an investment! The more, the better… the higher the heel, the greater you’ll feel. Carrie’s attitude towards them is all heels all the time. Check out sexy women high heel shoes at out boutique, Lady Me.
  • Accessorise! Put your personality into your accesories, in the movie… Carrie pulled off the oversized corsage on her dress.
  • Bag Lady! Carrie used handbags and purses  to accent her creations, you can do the same or actually use them for what they were meant for. Whatever your purpose, you can find some awesome fashion handbags at N.renee boutique.

Bottomline, have fun with your Carrie-inspired creations, and be sexy in the city!

Check out the Sexy and the City Movie in theatres Friday May 30th, 2008.

The Skin I’m In

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Skin I'm In, TheWhen Miss Saunders asks, “What’s my face say?” don’t nobody say nothing. “Don’t get all closed-mouth, now,” she says. “I hear you whispering in the hall. Laughing at me.” She walks the aisles again. she stops by me and sits on my desk. “Faces say more than you think. Even mine. Don’t be shy, say what’s on your mind.” My hand goes up. I figure she’s embarrassed me twice since she’s been here this week. Now it’s her turn. “Not to hurt your feelings… but … I think your face says you’re a freak.” Miss Saunders puts her hands to her chin like she’s praying. She gets up and walks the room, pacing. We don’t say nothing. We just listen to the clock tick. Shuffle our papers Watch for some reaction from Miss saunders.

A novel by Sharon G. Flake

“The voice of Maleeka Madison is endearing, honest, and powerful. She vocalizes authentic adolescent fears-of social acceptance, peer intimidation, and self -image. Slowly, Maleeka grows from seed to bloom as she gradually learns to love herself. Sharon Flake writes with the soul of her characters-a race and wonderful talent.”

                                                                                                                      -Sharon Draper

“Flake is a master of junior high funk and pain. Girls everywhere will appreciate Maleeka’s candor and complexity as they stey inside her skin in the compelling first novel.”

HAIR COLOR

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

A nice hair color always sets off the womans skin tone. Also try to pick a hair color close to your skin tone but, if you can pull off a bright and bold color then go for it! When taking care of your hair with color, I keep it while oiled and conditioned. When I color my hair, I love to use pure olive oil as it keeps my hair nice, oiled and heathly. It also gives it the bounce that I am looking for.

Hair & Nails

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Hey Ladies its Lady Me. I just wanted to take this time to talk to you about Hair & Nails. Now, we as women know that this is a very important part of our appearance. We know if those two are not in order our outfit will not going to come together. I believe in keeping it nice and simple. A wrap is a good way to go, because it is very easy to manage not much you will have to do to it. When it comes to the nails… I love to explore my colors but when I need to tone it down; a french manicure is great. That goes for the feet to ladies.

Bradley Bayou’s 10 Dress-Sexy Commandments

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

Here are some great fashion commandments from author Bradley Bayou’s new book “THE SCIENCE OF SEXY”

1. Thou shalt choose the right undergarments. The most common problem? Creating new bulges next to the ones you’re covering up.

2. Thou shalt choose the highest quality fabrics thou can afford. Buying cheap is like buying disposable clothing.

3. Thou shalt not force your figure into every style. Certain styles will never look good on you. Period.

4. Thou shalt use your skin to your advantage. A peek of flesh can instantly draw the eye straight to the spot you’re showing off-and away from a flaw you’re trying to conceal.

5. Thou shalt not buy big-tricket trendy items. If you look at somrthing and have to ask yourself, “Do I really think this will look good in two years?” it probably won’t.

6. Thou shalt select skinny fabrics and cuts. Fabrics that gently flow and drape over your body create more of a vertical line, making you seem slimmer.

7. Thou shalt ignore clothing tags-the fit is the thing. Generally speaking, if there are wrinkles in the fabric when you try it on, the garment is either too small or too big.

8. Thou shalt hall accessories. They divert from your flaws and are more affordable than clothes.

9. Prints and accessories must be in scale with the body. Little things on big people look ridiculous, and big things on little people look ridiculous.

10. Thou shalt wear the V-neck shape-it looks good on every woman. No matter waht shape or size you are, the V-neck will create the illusion of a slimmer waist.

Self Esteem & Confidence

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

by LaTasha Wells

This is a very big topic when it comes to Ladies, because we try so hard to please everyone but Ourselves. We as women need to put other people to the side and do what is best for us. Never let anyone bring you down! Always know that you have to look deep within yourself and know that you are beauitful and that you will be able to stand tall for yourself. If you feel that some clothing may not look as good as you think on your body, it is always helpful to have that one person that you trust, love and who will never tell you “Yes” because they dont want to hurt you; but will take that chance of hurting your feelings to help. That is the type of person you should take shopping with you . My person is my Husband, he always tells me when something does not look right on me.

Style Dos for your shape

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

If you’re pear-shaped
You have smaller shoulders, bust and waist, with heavier hips, bottom and thighs.

If you’re curvy
You have a full bust and hips—and, possibly, a dress size of 14 or larger.

If you’re boy-shaped
You have a straight shape from top to bottom: narrow hips, a small bust and a not-so-curvy waist.

If you’re petite
You have a proportioned body, with a height of 5′3″ or under.

If you’re busty
You have what thousands of women pay boatloads of cash for: a more-than-generous bustline.
